This is a live recording of a rehearsal in my studio. The title of the work is derived from an ecological term which describes the phenomena of one environment transitioning to another – such as a grassy field to a beach. This concept is applied to the context of sound with the intention of evoking transitions between a series of sonic states, wherein gradual shifts in the homogeneous form are evident, as are the finer aspects – such as shifts in colour, texture, dynamic and sonic minutiae. Applying this analogy back into the natural world, this process is similar to the situation of travelling through a series of natural environments – observing the homogeneous and detailed changes such as the general landscape, plants, humidity as so forth.

Ecocline is forming the basis for a larger work in coming months.
