Utilising South Australia’s oldest rail route, Southern Encounter is an experience on a chartered heritage train providing a landscape-scale experience of ‘happenings’ that incorporate old media/new media, performance, installation, and the interdisciplinary arts of sound as audiences traverse coastal Victor Harbor through to inland Strathalbyn.
I will be premiering a new headphone-installation work aboard the Steam Ranger. Echo Cline is composed from field recordings made around the Alexandrina area over the past year with an emphasis on local bird species, environmental sounds and the ecocline of the geographic landscape travelling from the coastal towns of Victor Harbor, Port Elliot and Goolwa then moving inland through Currency Creek, Finniss and Strathalbyn.
